How to upgrade your Wordpress site to the latest version
Before attempting to upgrade your CMS, it is very important to first make a backup of your website.
Step 1
To back up your website we recommend that you install a wordpress backup plugin called BackUpWordPress which can be downloaded from here.
Step 2
Once a backup has been made and you have downloaded it to your PC, you are now ready to follow the instructions provided on the wordpress support site which can be accessed here.
Please note that the following section on that page can be skipped:
Check Requirements. Automatic Update (a) and (b)
If you do experience any issues trying to perform the automatic update, please let our hosting team know and they will investigate further.
Step 3
On the Wordpress support section they provide you with two different methods for upgrading your website. The manual upgrade option is often used when your website has been exploited or when the automatic update has failed for some reason.
Step 4
You have now upgraded your site to the latest version of Wordpress. You will need to update your CMS periodically, as new versions are released. However, to simplify the process, the wonderful wordpress community has developed a Wordpress Automatic update plugin called Automatic Updater which can be downloaded from here.
