What is VDSL
VDSL (very-high-bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line) is the next generation broadband Telkom offering.
The service has been rolled out during the first quarter of 2013 by upgrading older DSLAMS to newer
MSANS in major metropolitan areas within South Africa.
Speeds offered through VDSL broadband are either 20 Mbits/sec and 40 Mbits/sec, a major upgrade in broadband speeds,
up to 4 times faster than regular DSL.
VDSL still uses the existing copper infrastructure that ADSL runs over, but from your local exchange connecting
to the Internet cloud VDSL enabled service uses fibre optic lines, thus increases capacity and reducing latency.
Clients can make us of Imaginet's Per GB or Uncapped packages on VDSL. Special VDSL uncapped packages have also been created:
20Mbps and 40Mbps these include 1GB free wifi.
